ROCK STAR BOARD & TRAIN
Welcome to "Band Camp," our new Board & Train program, which is an extension of our Rock Star Treatment Services started in Redmond. This program is offered at our property in Monroe, MZ Woods Creek Kennels.
With many years of experience rehabilitating and rescuing dogs, we have effective, safe and enjoyable training opportunities for your pup!
We have a variety of training services aimed at helping you and your dog lives happier, more peaceful lives at any stage in their lives. From young pups to seniors (yes, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!), we can work with them to achieve successful results that last.
While Board & Train is done without you, have no fear- you will become as effective as our fabulous trainers in handling, allowing your relationship to grow with a deeper understand of their needs and great skills to manage your dog's behavior.
We will get you both on the right track; but as we say: "Training is a lifestyle."
There's no point in time when you stop learning. Like you, your dog will continue to learn throughout their lives; whether it's what you ask and reward consistently, or what you tolerate and allow (often by omission of input). You train your dog through your actions and behavior - we just help you get it right the first time!
We have training to be utilized during your dog's general boarding as well! Please see the "À La Carte" selections below which are individual training sessions that can be added to your dog's general boarding at any time.
Board + Train Lineup
Rock Star Puppy Pupil: For dogs 9 weeks to 6 months old
$4425 - 4 weeks
This course is designed to be a puppy’s first class to work on very basic things that puppies do such as jumping, mouthing/ chewing and begin foundation obedience.
At only 4 weeks' duration, this is the start of their learning which you will continue to establish through consistency and repetition at home. This course is NOT designed to send you home with a “perfect” puppy (anyone who says they can offer you that in 4 weeks is lying!).
Duration: 4 weeks
Commands / Behaviors addressed: jumping, mouthing / chewing, foundational leash work, sit, wait
Includes:
-
Martingale collar: a fabric collar with an additional loop that help cinch evenly and safely around your dog's neck for effective communication. This also prevents escape as when your dog pulls back, the collar can't slip over their head like a flat collar would.
PS: Max and Neo also donate to our rescue and you can purchase collars for our dogs too! -
Use of prong collar (as needed). We rely on the martingales for training in general, but some (especially) larger breed dogs may benefit from a prong for walking. Should this be the case, we will offer advice on how/ where to purchase and show you how to fit it properly, especially while your puppy grows as this will need to be adjusted.
-
Slip lead: A "lasso-like" rope leash with stop that offers quick and easy maneuvering and control.
-
1 hour of one-on-one training with an experienced trainer for 5 days (ex: M-F) during their stay.
-
1 hour of group play training for 2 days (ex: Saturday & Sunday) during their stay.

Integrated handling- training thoughtfully worked into every aspect of your dog’s stay where every action we take with them is deliberate and calculated from walking to feeding.
-
Videos of your dog’s training progress, designed as homework assignments for you to utilize when your puppy goes home (1 year of access).
-
1 hour in-person “Go Home” session where our trainers show you how to work with your dog, so that you can continue their learning with confidence.
-

Add-on time for Puppy Pupil & Band Camp
Additional weeks may be added on to your dog's stay for Puppy Pupil or Band Camp to build their skills before they go home with you. This may be selected at the start of training or may be recommended by our trainers during your dog's stay to ensure your experience with your puppy is at its optimum level once you take over management.
We suggest budgeting a 3rd week either way; but this is a choice you can make based on your assessment of your dog's progress seen in their videos. You will know whether your dog would benefit from an additional week.
The 1st additional week is offered at a 5% discount ($1068.75) and a 2nd week will be further reduced for a 10% discount ($967.50).
For these rates to be applied, this must be a continuous stay - not to be used a la carte later if you decide to return for more training at a future time. After your dog goes home, upon return the Rehearsal rate (below) will apply.
Commands: Work on any commands / behaviors for which your dog is needing additional support.

Rock Star Rehab
$4995 - 4 weeks
This course is designed to work on new or advanced behavior modification issues such as leash reactivity, dog / people aggression, resource guarding, and the like.
These behaviors must be taken seriously as they endanger people and or dogs - including your own dog, as their life may depend on you being able to safely navigate and manage them to yield success.
These behaviors are manageable and fixable when they are predictable - and chances are, your dog's behavior is predictable, but you may not see the trigger and or wind up.
Rarely do reactions "happen out of nowhere." We certainly acknowledge this happens; as we have seen it, but in our experience more often than not, the behaviors are indeed predictable and can be triggered. By providing your dog appropriate cues when they react, we can teach them an alternative response which will alter their behavior over time.
Duration: 4 weeks
Commands: Specific focus on dangerous and undesirable behaviors which disrupt your life and cause worry and fear.
Includes:
-
Martingale collar (if not provided before) or prong collar.
-
Basket muzzle (required for human and dog aggression). If determined necessary, you will need to work on muzzle conditioning with your dog before their stay so they are at least somewhat accustomed to it and the focus can be on their behavior, rather than just using the muzzle.
-
Slip lead: A "lasso-like" rope leash with stop that offers quick and easy maneuvering and control.
-
1 hour of one-on-one training with an experienced trainer (ex: M-F) during their stay
-
1 hour of group play training (as allowed by their behavior restrictions and progress) for 2 days during their stay
-
A minimum of 1.5 hours / day of “free” play in the play yard alone and or with supervision/ interaction of a Dog Agent (not necessarily a trainer, depending on behavior issue)
-
Integrated handling: training thoughtfully worked into every aspect of your dog’s stay where every action we take with them is deliberate and calculated from walking to feeding.
-
Videos of your dog’s training progress, designed as homework assignments for you to utilize when your dog goes home (1 year of access)
-
1 hour in-person “Go Home” session where our trainers show you how to work with your dog, so that you can continue their learning with confidence.
-
2 follow-up sessions (in-person or Zoom) to fine tune your dog’s progress.
-
2 free e-mail and/or phone support opportunities if needed. Additional support needed would likely result in a 1 hour private training session ($95).
Additional weeks for Rock Star Rehab
Additional time can be added onto your dog's Rehab stay in 2 week increments at an approximate 10% discount ($2250).
During that time, we will continue to focus on your dog's behavior, with further reinforcement of positive responses for successful outcomes.
Duration: 2 weeks
À La Carte Training
$55 / lesson with boarding stay
À la carte training is available for dogs that are already staying with us, but would like training as an additional service, rather than as the focus.
This starts with an assessment to see which grade level your dog is in (based on our Rock Star University Grade Levels) - then we start training where your dog is at, so we don't waste time or money on either side.
You can request as many training sessions as you'd like during your stay Monday-Friday. We don't offer training on weekends, which is our peak time - and our staff is dedicated solely to play groups.
Duration: 1 hour
Commands: Based on grade level; sit, wait, down, place, recall with increasing distance and distractions, progressing through levels
Includes:
-
Use of martingale and/or prong, slip lead
-
1 hour one-on-one training session with a trainer
-
Video of the session's focus as a homework assignment to be utilized when the dog is home (1 year access).
